Today was a big day. A…R E A L L Y. B I G. D A Y. for two reasons.
Why, you ask? Well, first of all, I had my eyebrows plucked and shaped!
This is a big deal because I now HAVE eyebrows! It’s been months and months since I’ve had them. During chemo, I held on to every last one. Eyelashes, too. Now, I have signs of life. Signs of hope. I never knew (or appreciated!) how much joy could be found in looking in the mirror after having my eyebrows done (Silver Lining).
I went to the Marilyn Yeager Skin Care Studio in San Francisco where Marilyn Yeager did my brows.
The second Silver Lining of the day came when, upon finishing, Marilyn said, “Do you mind taking off your scarf? I see hair under there and would love to see what’s on your head.”
I said: Uh, Ok. (Again, it’s been months and months since I’ve gone scarf-less.) Surprisingly, I ripped the scarf off pretty quickly and uninhibitedly.
Marilyn said: “You look fabulous. You do NOT need to put that scarf back on! No way!”
Well, guess what? I walked out WITHOUT my scarf and have not put it back on since! In looking in the mirror, I still see the head of a baby chick (or a Vicuna) looking back at me. However, if ever there were a place to look like a baby chick (or Vicuna), it’s San Francisco. There are quite a few people walking around with A LOT less hair than I have now.
And another SL is that the HOTY (a/k/a Husband of the Year) and Finally Five looooove rubbing my head. They both seem to rub my head all day, in fact. It feels so good, inside and out!
